Job Description

Bos Staffing is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Analytical Chemist for our prestigious client located in Springfield, OR. Our client operates at 12 locations, which boasts a workforce of 600 employees. You will be:
  1. Assist in the development of novel analytical methods to better support R&T’s objectives
  2. Write analytical reports and maintain proper written records of results and activities
  3. Operation and maintenance of chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal and mechanical analysis instrumentation.  This includes, but is not limited to, routine instrument operation, tracking and validating instrument performance metrics, performing preventative and emergency instrument maintenance, and ensuring necessary stocking of solvents, reagents and consumables
  4. Ensure safety and cleanliness in the lab (including all technicians and chemists using analytical equipment)
  5. Follow safe work practices for the proper use, storage and disposal of chemicals
  6. Communicate with product groups requesting analysis to fully understand the problem they wish to solve.  Choose analytical methods and experimental designs to best meet those needs
If you have:
  1. M.S. in Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemistry, or other relevant discipline
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in polymeric material characterization
  3. Experience with chromatography, spectroscopy and thermal analysis of polymeric materials, including HPLC, GPC, GC, MS, FTIR, NMR, DSC, DMA.
  4. Ability to work safely both independently and in groups in a lab setting.
  5. Knowledge of the chemistry of formaldehyde based phenolic and amino resins is an asset
  6. Experience in thermal analysis, spectroscopy and chromatography of polymeric materials
  7. Experimental design and project planning skills
  8. Strong logical reasoning and problem solving skills
  9. Good verbal and written communication skills
  10. Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment; this may include, but is not limited to potentially lifting up to 20 lbs, standing for extended periods of time bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, climbing stairs, or any combination of the aforementioned, etc.
